Howlong Community Progress Association

Featured in the Howlong Grapevine October 2021

The rocky road continued throughout September with the Committee only being able to meet twice via online Zoom meetings. Whilst not ideal, it did allow the Committee to keep communication moving forward. It has been difficult to gain traction for projects in the pipeline, but there now seems to be a window with Albury LGA reopening. We are on track to host another public meeting and will meet again soon to set a date. In the meantime, please know that we continue to work hard behind the scenes.

‘Howlong Has Talent’: The Performing Arts sub-committee has been busy organising the amateur talent quest proposed for Sunday 20 March 2022. Advertising and entry forms will be circulated well before the event. It will be a great family day out and we hope to see lots of residents attend.

HCPA Membership: Applications for membership are open and the committee encourages residents in the 2643 postcode to join up. Joining fee is only $5.00 which includes your annual subscription until 30Jun 2022. Thanks to those who have sent their applications - please keep them coming. (The form was in the Aug/Sept Grapevine and on Facebook. The email address is below if you want a form sent).

Ambulance/First Responder: The committee still hopes to have a special meeting to allow community input and to seek interest from anyone who may wish to be involved as a volunteer of a first responder unit. Please make contact if this interests you.

HCPA Website: Our new logo [above] has been finalised thanks to Carley Alchin Graphic + Web Designer. We await the outcome of our grant application so we can complete the website design which will be a great resource for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.

Tip Hours: A letter has been sent to Federation Council expressing concern about the lack of community engagement for the change in tip hours. We have yet to receive a response, however we note that Cr Longley and Cr Whitechurch support the residents’ concerns.

Welcome to the
Howlong Community Progress Association

We welcome you to share your ideas and vision for Howlong’s future needs - just click on the Contact tab to submit your thoughts or suggestions to our email.  Your feedback will be considered at a future committee meeting, and our aim is to ensure collaborative community input.

Having a direct conduit to Federation Council gives us leverage to put forward projects where we need its support.  The diverse skills of our committee members gives us the ability to liaise closely with our local government, and when necessary lobby our state or federal governments.

Seeking grant funds is always at the forefront of being able to complete projects that benefit our community, and this will be an ongoing pursuit for the association's committee.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live and gather - the Bpangerang and Wiradjuri people.  We also acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who now reside in this area, and we extend that respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
