WHO WE ARE

Howlong Community Progress Association Inc (HCPA) was registered as an incorporated body with NSW Fair Trading on 25 September 2020, and a volunteer working group was formed to organise a public meeting to launch the association.  Unfortunately with the Covid pandemic lockdowns and ongoing restrictions, the launch was delayed until 24 May 2021 when the inaugural HCPA committee was finally formed. It is a not-for-profit community group consisting of 7 voluntary committee members.

The current committee is:

  • Stuart Sizer (President)

  • Robyn Roland (Vice President/Secretary)

  • Sue Wearne (Treasurer)

  • Liz Hall

  • Veronica Husted

  • Malcolm Whittle

The goal of HCPA is to work for the benefit of the Howlong community and to achieve positive community outcomes.

The Objects of the HCPA are:

  • To promote positive community spirit, and support activities and groups of benefit to Howlong and its people.

  • To provide a forum for the exchange of information and views which enables the Howlong community members to make informed decisions about issues affecting the locality.

  • To represent the wishes of Howlong residents and strive to deliver positive outcomes on their behalf.

  • To represent the wishes of Howlong residents and strive to deliver public infrastructure that benefits all residents.

  • To provide a forum for the presentation of expert advice to community members.

Volunteers are Welcome:  You don't need to be a committee member to help our cause. There might be a particular project that you have an interest, skill, or passion for, and would like to volunteer your time and/or expertise at some point.  Alternatively you might want to start a sub-committee (auspiced by HCPA) to help drive a project that is aligned with your strengths and values.  Feel welcome to send an email with your thoughts via the Contact tab.

Welcome to the
Howlong Community Progress Association

We welcome you to share your ideas and vision for Howlong’s future needs - just click on the Contact tab to submit your thoughts or suggestions to our email.  Your feedback will be considered at a future committee meeting, and our aim is to ensure collaborative community input.

Having a direct conduit to Federation Council gives us leverage to put forward projects where we need its support.  The diverse skills of our committee members gives us the ability to liaise closely with our local government, and when necessary lobby our state or federal governments.

Seeking grant funds is always at the forefront of being able to complete projects that benefit our community, and this will be an ongoing pursuit for the association's committee.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live and gather - the Bpangerang and Wiradjuri people.  We also acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who now reside in this area, and we extend that respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
